Colonel Richard J. Dinsdale is the commander of the 943d Aerospace Medicine Squadron, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona.  As Squadron Commander he directs and oversees all Air Force Reserve medical operations at Davis-Monthan.  He is responsible for the medical readiness of the diverse reserve units assigned to Davis-Monthan.  This includes the 943d Rescue Group, A-10 Associate Wing and STRATCOM resources.  Medical advisor to the Group Commander, he provides leadership, management, and is responsible to direct, organize and train combat ready medical personnel.

Colonel Dinsdale graduated from the University of Houston and shortly thereafter entered medical school in 1983 at Texas Tech University in Lubbock Texas.  It was there that he entered the military joining the United States Army Reserve and attended officer candidate school at Fort Benning, Georgia.  As  a medical student, Colonel Dinsdale had assignments at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Fort Ord and Madigan Army Medical Center.  After Graduating from medical school, he entered a surgical residency program in Cleveland, Ohio.  Shortly thereafter he elected to enter active duty Air Force as a flight surgeon and was acting as Chief of Flight Medicine, Williams Air Force Base until the bases closure.

Colonel Dinsdale returned to the Army National Guard in 1992 as a flight surgeon supporting the 385th Aviation Battalion.  After 8 years in the ANG, Colonel left military service for a period of time but his love for the mission and the people eventually brought him back to the Air Force Reserve.  In 2005, Colonel Dinsdale accepted an assignment at March ARB eventually serving as the Chief of Aerospace Medicine  supporting both C-17 and KC-135 operations and providing medical oversight to the Largest Air Reserve Base in the military.  In 2008 Colonel Dinsdale accepted a similar position with the then 943d Aerospace Medicine Flight.  Colonel Dinsdale has served in numerous deployments during his military career to include Desert Storm/Desert Shield.

Colonel Dinsdale is rated as a Senior Flight Surgeon with 273 hours.  He has flown: A-7K, AH-64A, C-5A, C-5B, C-9A, C130B, KC135E, T-38A, UH-1H, T-37B, C141B, F-5F, F-15D, F-16b, F-16C, F-16D
